The Hunger Games: The World Will Be Watching
Spring 2012
So...this is a recent picture that I finished and it's also a picture of my favorite book series! I love the Hunger Games, fell in love with it right away, so just about right after I saw the movie in theaters, I absolutely had to draw it. So I went searching on the internet for pictures and I came across this one, I really liked how it was put together and so this is it! For this project I used a standard #2 pencil and oil pastels. This was also the first project where I didn't use a graph to help me! So that was something that made me very happy and the best part is it turned out really good!! This project, if I had to guess, took me about two and half weeks to do, so...I like it. :)
Caught In The Rain
Spring 2012
Where do I begin with this one? This project I think took me the longest, but then again, making all of those small dots is quite tedious, so I had to stop and take a break, And yes, the whole picture is formed by teeny tiny dots, I did this with a thin, fine point sharpie. For this project I used a graph, :( I was fine using a graph, but it was nice to see that I was able to push myself from using a graph. Anyways, while I was drawing this, people kept asking me if it was a self portrait. I always told them no, and they would respond by saying that it looked like me. And now, that I'm finished, I can actually see a little bit of myself in the picture, especially since it turned out nothing like I planned, but sometimes unplanned things can turn out to be a good thing. So, I guess I'm pretty satisfied with it. :)
Liberian Girl
Winter 2011/2012
Oh gosh, so this was my first project for second semester, and I'm going to say straight out that it is not one of my favorites. Nothing came out how I wanted, some things I am sort of happy with, but the majority of it, is dissatisfying for me. Other people I've showed it to, like it, so I thought I'd put it up. For this I used graphite pencils, did I mention that graphite pencils are very messy? Plus it's not very easy to erase either, especially if I made a mistake, don't know if I'll use these type of pencils again. Anyways, I hope you enjoy it.
Stopping Time
Winter 2011/2012
This project was actually kind of fun to make, even though it took a little while, I did enjoy making it, along with the rest of my projects. If you don't know, this project is a silhouette and it's the first I've ever done. what's surprising too, is I didn't find this one on the internet, I came up with it on my own which makes me so proud of it in many ways. I just had an image in my mind, and then I drew it out on paper, it turned out exactly ow I planned, and it pretty much looks like how I pictured it in my mind. The watch was my favorite part to do. No, I didn't paint it on, I sculpted it with a type of clay, then I baked it in a toaster oven type thing. After that I used acrylic paint to finish it off. Then when it came to the numbers on the clock, I used a regular sharpie. P.S. This whole project was done in acrylic paint. :)
Masquerade
Winter 2011
Oh, boy, okay maybe I lied on saying that "Caught In The Rain" took the longest. Turns out this particular project took too long to make, in fact I had to turn it in unfinished just so I could get the points, then finish it later. If I had to say, this project took me about a month and a half to finish. It was a lot of tedious work for me because, I had to keep mixing and remixing colors to get the same color or the right color I needed. Another reason that it was so tedious is because I had to keep putting on coats of paint once it was dry. Then, finally after a lot of "blood, sweat and tears", I finished this beautiful acrylic painting. As a special touch, I added some gems and the long strands hanging on top of the picture, I think it finished off the project perfectly; it makes it look complete. My only problem with this is, it looks like there is a hand and head just floating in the picture, but that is how the picture was, and the stick of the mask is a little crooked, but whatever, I'll deal with it. Enjoy! :)
Winter Wonderland
Winter 2011
I made this my sophomore year and it by far my favorite drawing I've ever done. It took me 2 weeks to complete, even though the work was very tedious, I kept at it. I love this drawing and I will keep it forever, because that's how proud of it I am. :)
Where Does It Begin?
Fall 2011
This drawing was done in pen, it's more of a scribble drawing, but I really like it. It's my very first abstract drawing and I think it looks really good. My first idea was to make a large tree and show it's shadow as well and put something in the background. Unfortunately, it didn't work, so I came up with this idea, and I really like how it turned out. :)
